Messaging Your Connections

Once you've connected with someone during a speed dating game, the real conversation begins. Crowdr gives you a full 1-on-1 chat experience with no time limits, so you can get to know each other at your own pace.

Starting a Conversation

  1. Open the Messages tab at the bottom of the app.
  2. Find the connection you want to chat with.
  3. Tap their name to open the conversation.
  4. Type your message and hit send!

Chat Features

Crowdr's messaging is built for real conversation:

  • Full chat history -- every message is preserved. Scroll up anytime to revisit earlier parts of your conversation.
  • Game messages included -- the messages you exchanged during your 40-second speed dating round are carried over into the conversation, so you have full context from the very beginning.
  • Real-time delivery -- when both you and your connection are online, messages appear instantly.
  • Online status -- a green dot next to your connection's name or photo indicates they're currently active in the app.

Quick Prompts

Not sure what to say? Crowdr offers quick prompts -- conversation starters you can tap to send. They're especially helpful for:

  • Breaking the ice after connecting when you're not sure how to begin.
  • Reigniting a conversation that's gone quiet for a while.
  • Keeping things playful with fun questions that go beyond small talk.

Just tap the prompts icon in the chat to browse available options.

Notifications

When your connection sends you a message and you're not in the app, you'll receive a push notification so you never miss a reply. Make sure notifications are enabled for Crowdr in your device settings.

Tips for Great Post-Connection Conversations

  • Reference your game chat -- "I loved what you said about [topic]" is a natural and flattering opener.
  • Ask follow-up questions -- show genuine curiosity about things they mentioned during your round.
  • Share something about yourself -- conversations flow best when both people are opening up.
  • Don't overthink the first message -- a simple, friendly greeting works just fine. The hard part (connecting) is already done!
  • Be responsive -- try to reply in a reasonable timeframe. Momentum matters in early conversations.
  • Use prompts when stuck -- there's no downside to using a conversation starter. They often lead to the most interesting exchanges.

Managing Your Conversations

Your Messages tab shows all active conversations, sorted by most recent activity. Conversations with unread messages appear with a visual indicator so you can easily see which connections need your attention.

If you'd like to remove a conversation, see our article on Disconnecting a User.
