How Speed Dating Games Work
Crowdr brings the excitement of speed dating to your phone. Each game session gathers 10 people into a lobby -- 5 men and 5 women -- for a fast-paced series of live text chats. It's designed to feel natural, fun, and low-pressure, so you can focus on genuine connection.
The Game at a Glance
Here's what a full game looks like from start to finish:
- Join the queue -- Tap "Join Queue" on the home screen when a session is live.
- Lobby forms -- Once 5 men and 5 women are ready, you're placed into a lobby together.
- 5 rounds of chat -- You'll have a 40-second live text conversation with each person of the opposite gender.
- Vote after each round -- After every chat, you get 10 seconds to vote YES or NO on your conversation partner.
- Reveal phase -- After all 5 rounds, you get a final 15-second window to revisit and cast any last-chance votes.
- Results -- Mutual YES votes become instant connections!
Round Robin Connecting
Crowdr uses a Round Robin system, which means you'll chat with every person of the opposite gender in the lobby -- no one is skipped, and no one gets left out. With 5 people on each side, that's exactly 5 rounds of conversation per game.
What Happens in Each Round
- A 40-second timer counts down at the top of the screen.
- You and your partner exchange messages in a live text chat.
- Quick prompts (conversation starters) are available if you need an icebreaker.
- You can view your partner's profile at any time during the chat.
- When the timer runs out, the chat ends automatically and you move to voting.
Voting
After each round, you'll see your partner's profile and have 10 seconds to vote:
- YES -- You'd like to connect with this person.
- NO -- You'd rather not connect further.
Your votes are completely private. The other person has no way of knowing how you voted until the reveal.
The Reveal Phase
Once all 5 rounds are complete, there's a 15-second reveal phase. This is your last chance to change your mind or cast a vote you might have missed. Review all 5 of your conversation partners and finalize your choices.
Connecting
A connection is created when both you and another person vote YES for each other. It's always mutual -- one-sided votes don't create a connection.
After the reveal phase, the results screen shows:
- Your new connections highlighted with a celebration animation.
- A quick summary of the game.
Where Do Connections Go?
All your new connections appear in the Messages tab right away. From there, you can continue the conversation with no time limit. Messages you exchanged during the game round are preserved in the chat history, so you can pick up right where you left off.
Quick Tips
- Be yourself -- authenticity stands out in short conversations.
- Use the prompts -- they're there to help if the conversation stalls.
- Don't overthink voting -- go with your gut feeling.
- Check your connections -- head to Messages after the game to keep the conversation going.
