Joining Your First Game
Your first Crowdr speed dating game is an exciting experience. Here's everything you need to know so you feel confident and ready to go.
Before the Game
When you open Crowdr, the Home screen shows you the current game status:
- Countdown timer -- displays when the next game session opens.
- "Join Queue" button -- appears when a session is live and accepting players.
- Spark Lounge -- browse profiles of other users while you wait.
How to Join
- Open the app when a game session is live (check the schedule on the Home screen).
- Tap the "Join Queue" button.
- You'll enter a waiting queue while the system assembles a 10-person lobby -- 5 men and 5 women.
- Once your lobby is full, the game begins automatically. You'll get a notification when it's go time!
Tip: Stay in the app while in the queue. If you leave, you may miss your lobby assignment.
What Happens During a Game
Each game consists of 5 rounds of one-on-one video chats. Here's the flow:
- You're connected with another player using a Round Robin system, so you'll meet 5 different people.
- Each round lasts 40 seconds -- just enough time for a fun, focused conversation.
- When the timer runs out, the round ends automatically.
- After each round, you vote YES or NO on whether you'd like to connect with that person.
- After all 5 rounds, there's a Reveal phase where you see your results and get a last chance to vote.
Voting and Connecting
- Vote YES if you felt a connection and want to keep chatting.
- Vote NO if you didn't feel it -- no hard feelings, it's all part of the game.
- Mutual YES = a connection! You'll both be notified and can start a persistent conversation in the Messages tab.
- Voting is completely private -- no one sees your vote unless it's mutual.
Tips for Your First Game
- Be yourself. Authenticity is way more attractive than a rehearsed pitch.
- Use conversation prompts. If you're stuck on what to say, Crowdr provides quick prompts to break the ice.
- Smile and have fun. Everyone in the lobby is in the same boat -- looking to meet someone new.
- Don't overthink your votes. Go with your gut feeling after each round.
- Check your setup. Make sure you're in a well-lit, quiet space with a good internet connection.
After the Game
Once the game ends:
- Head to the Messages tab to see your connections and start chatting.
- Check back on the Home screen for the next game time.
- Visit the Spark Lounge to browse profiles between sessions.
Your first game might feel fast -- that's by design! The short rounds keep things exciting and low-pressure. You'll get more comfortable with each session.
