Read Receipts and Typing Indicators

Crowdr's messaging includes built-in delivery tracking and typing indicators, so you always know the status of your messages and when your connection is about to reply.

Message Status Indicators

Every message you send goes through a series of statuses. You'll see these reflected as small indicators beneath your messages:

  • Sent -- Your message has been delivered to Crowdr's servers. This confirms it left your device successfully.
  • Delivered -- Your message has reached your connection's device. They may not have opened the conversation yet, but the message is waiting for them.
  • Read -- Your connection has opened the conversation and seen your message.

These statuses update automatically in real time. As your connection interacts with the app, you'll see the indicators change without needing to refresh or do anything on your end.

Typing Indicator

When your connection is actively composing a message, you'll see a "typing..." indicator appear in the conversation. This lets you know a reply is on the way, so you can hold off on sending another message and give them space to finish their thought.

The typing indicator:

  • Appears when your connection starts typing in the text field.
  • Disappears when they stop typing or send their message.
  • Updates in real time, so it reflects what's happening on their end as it happens.

No Configuration Needed

Both read receipts and typing indicators are built-in features that work automatically. There are no settings to toggle or preferences to configure -- they're always active for all users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I turn off read receipts? No. Read receipts are a standard part of the Crowdr messaging experience and cannot be disabled. This keeps communication transparent for both parties.

Why does my message stay on "Sent" for a long time? This usually means your connection hasn't opened the app recently. The status will update to "Delivered" once their device receives the message, and to "Read" once they open the conversation.

Does the typing indicator mean they're definitely going to send a message? Not necessarily. The indicator shows that your connection is typing in the text field. They might decide to delete what they wrote or step away before sending. If the indicator disappears without a new message, they may have changed their mind or gotten distracted.

Do these features work when I'm offline? Message statuses are updated when your device has an active connection. If you're temporarily offline, statuses will catch up once you reconnect.
